Our journey has been a blend of remarkable success, steep learning curves and amusing tales of mishaps. From labourers on a construction site living in a caravan to renovating houses with guidance from DIY manuals, our trajectory to where we stand today has been quite the adventure. Beginning with our initial projects, renovating modest residential properties in Middlesbrough for approximately £70,000 in 2011, reminiscent of shows like “Homes Under the Hammer,” we’ve consistently sought to expand into new and diverse sectors of property development using creative strategies to maximise a properties potential.
Our journey from strength to strength
If someone had told Jack and Tom back in 2011 that Atha Developments would boast the largest student accommodation portfolio in Teesside, alongside a mix of thriving commercial and residential developments, with a combined portfolio value of £14,000,000, they would have dismissed it outright, likely with a chuckle from their caravan.
However, thanks to incredible support from family, friends, investors, and the community, Atha Developments journey has gone from strength to strength. Exciting projects are on the horizon with lots too be excited about in the coming years with a pipeline of projects with a Gross Development Value (GDV) exceeding £25,000,000. There is much to anticipate.
With the creation of our “Dream Team” below we have managed to create our full turnkey solution service. With this service we will take care of the full design process, Construction phase and management of the completed scheme, taking your project from concept to completion.

Jack & Thomas Atha
Co-Founders
Tom and Jack established Atha Developments in 2012, starting from construction sites. They’ve since amassed a £14m GDV residential portfolio, with ongoing projects valued at £24m GDV. They’ve mastered property development with over 20+ projects, from townhouse renovations to large scale apartment builds, focusing on meticulous design and prime Teesside locations to meet rental demand.

Our Architectural Services team are an innovative architecture firm established in 2020, specialising in delivering mid to large-scale, complex residential projects. We pride ourselves on creating exceptional design solutions that meet the unique needs of our clients and residents. Our expertise has been demonstrated through successful collaborations, including notable projects for Atha Developments. Most recently, we completed the Dorman House PBSA project, showcasing our commitment to quality and precision in every detail. We will manage the architectural and design process of the project from initial feasibility reports right through to practical completion.
Andrew Wilson
Non executive financial director
Andrew is a retired NatWest Bank local director with 45+ years of banking and industry experience in business finance. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, in his career, he specialised in financing large-scale property developments both in the residential and care sectors. His skills include both raising the funding and completing the complex construction industry documentation required by lenders as well as monitoring financial performance against covenants.
Peter Hodges
Project consultant
With a construction career spanning more than 45 years, Peter progressed from site management through to roles as Design and Build Director and Operations Director for three national contractors. These positions covered the whole procurement process for major projects including client liaison, design, civil engineering and construction delivery. He has led multi-disciplinary design teams within a design and build environment and more recently as Director of a highly respected architectural practice. As a long standing member of the Chartered Institute of Building, Peter has represented the construction industry at regional and national level and been involved in training initiatives throughout his career.
Peter enhances our construction and project management capabilities. He played a vital role in our recent projects, St James Studios redevelopment and the PBSA scheme Dorman House bringing invaluable expertise to our team
